Traditional Cemeteries < back

Most public cemeteries are administered by specialist bereavement services departments within district councils. Others are in the hands of private companies, such as Dignity and Co-operative Funeral Care. All have a duty of care to visitors and staff under health and safety legislation to maintain safe sites. This includes the testing and making safe of dangerous memorials.

The traditional approach to this involves clipboard and pen, which is slow, often inaccurate and needs subsequent manual data entry into a PC.

Our PRISM system automates all of this - giving savings of up to 70% on the cost. See below for more details or click HERE for an example table of costs and savings

P R I S M: Paper-free Risk Inspection System for Memorials
V

One of these tools is three times as fast, and reduces your survey costs by 70%!

PRISM is a simple but powerful paper-free system that speeds up the process of ensuring cemeteries are compliant with The Health and Safety at Work Act.

PRISM is a documentation system for memorial risk assessments. Records for a specific batch of memorials can be transferred to a hand-held PDA from a PC, edited at the grave side, then transferred back to the PC as required. Information on the PDA is input using Microsoft Pocket Excel, so familiarity and ease of use is guaranteed and because the data upload from PDA to PC is automatic, it will save both time and expense. The PRISM desktop program is also networkable if required.

The package cost includes training, customising data fields to individual requirements, supplying the hand-held PDA and importing your current data into new databases, where possible. As part of the customisation and installation service we can customise PRISM's reports facility with your logo or graphics at no extra cost. So a tailor-made memorial survey report can be created, printed, then signed and sent to a memorial owner. Unlike other systems, PRISM also records a history of any changes made to it's data, unlike Microsoft Excel or Access for example.

Using PRISM some burial authorities are achieving up to 200 surveys per day and see it as a faster, cheaper way of making their cemeteries safer. Councils too, are using PRISM for many other types of inspection including trees, IT equipment, playground surveys, crime incident reporting and many others.

Summary of benefits:
  • PRISM issues batched inspections, isolating memorials most at risk, and prioritising remedies.
  • It uploads via user-friendly spreadsheet records, automatic re-inspection scheduling.
  • It retains all records in an audit trail to meet industry best practice and the requirements of the HSE.
  • The program assists in the dialogue between bereaved families and masons.
  • It speeds up progress towards site compliance, targets, and KPI's through faster survey rates.
  • Cost reductions of up to 70% are achievable.
